The trip to Madrid
There are several ways to travel to the capital. Of course you can go by car, but also by train and by plane.
Do you want to get there quickly? Then taking the plane is of course the best and often the cheapest way to get there. You can fly from places like Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Brussels and Düsseldorf. Once you arrive, then grab the metro, Uber, Bolt or cab to get to the center easily. More on this later.
Going by car? Then make it a super fun drive together with your friends, for example. This way you can also stop at several places and maybe spend the night there. Of course you travel through several countries on the way to your destination.
Nowadays you can also take the train from Amsterdam to Madrid. This will take longer and it is not exactly cheap. On the other hand, it is better for mother nature. You take the train in Amsterdam, go to Paris, change trains in Barcelona and take the train back to Madrid.

Shopping in Madrid
One of the most famous streets in Madrid is Gran Vía. This street is very long and is filled with hotels, restaurants and stores. If you feel like a day of shopping, then this is the place to be. One of the side streets is called Fuencarral where you have even more stores and boutiques. Right in the center where you can find the hustle and bustle and also where you can easily take the metro everywhere.
Do you have a bigger budget and are looking for fancier stores? Then head to the Salamanca district. Here you have the big brands located where you can indulge in a luxurious environment with the finest items. Then ready to go to dinner? Then this district is also the place to be if you like to have a more luxurious dinner.
Getting around in Madrid
Public transportation is really very well organized. It is not without reason that so many people like to use the metro and bus. Besides being cheap (10 rides cost 6.10), you get everywhere in the city in no time.
In case you don’t feel like taking the subway or bus so much? Then download the app of Uber or Bolt, because rides within the city are 9 euros on average. If you then also take an Uber or Bolt with several people, it will cost you almost nothing.
And of course taking a cab is also a possibility. These are not very expensive either and good to know: do you arrive at the airport and want to take a cab to your destination? This always costs 30 euros. This is the fixed rate of all cabs you take from the airport to any place in the city.
All in all, Madrid is really a top city to see and especially to experience. Want to know more about a particular topic, such as going out, restaurants, places to see or how to buy a metro pass? Then be sure to let me know so you can read about it on my page soon!
